Give the Gift of a New Day

Motels4Now is northern Indiana's only housing-first, high-access intake center, currently providing shelter for up to 120 guests at a time.

Over the past three years, we've experienced incredible success, with more than 710+ guests participating in our program. An astonishing 78% of them have achieved stable housing, either in our motel accommodations or through other positive outcomes. Thanks to community partnerships, our guests can access wrap-around mental health and addiction recovery services. To date, at least 360 motel residents have embarked on journeys of healing, seeking treatment for mental health and substance use disorders.

Yet, despite these accomplishments, we face an ongoing challenge. Motels4Now has effectively used available space, but we continually spend critical time and financial resources on failing buildings that were not built with our mission in mind. New Day Intake Center will provide guests with a tranquil, dignified setting, and accommodations uniquely tailored to our mission and values, marking a significant evolution of our program as we support our guests’ transition toward more sustainable futures. Thanks to vital support from the City of South Bend, New Day Intake Center will be a first-in-class facility blending intentional design and community partnerships to address homelessness in the most robust way in South Bend’s history.

Our preliminary design, developed by Kil Architecture, envisions a campus featuring administrative office and meeting spaces to house the NDIC team under one roof, a full-service kitchen and community spaces, laundry facilities, access to wraparound services including mental healthcare and other medical and support services, and more.

Your support is essential to the continued and scalable success of our program. We invite you to reach out to our Director of Development, Jo Boileau (jboileau@newdaysouthbend.org), with any questions, comments, or concerns about your gift, and look forward to staying in touch with you moving forward.

For the promise of a New Day, thank you for making our work possible.
